Mr. Gauck, you were born in 1940, in the middle of the war. When you lie in bed this evening and let the world go by in your mind’s eye, are you ever afraid?
I don’t have that fear. But it is a disturbing new attitude to life when tensions and wars threaten or destroy the world order almost everywhere. Take the barbaric attack on Israel by the terrorist Hamas. Let’s take the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. So much excess, brutality and irrationality leave you stunned.
