STORY: After the Muslim Friday prayers, there were clashes between the Israeli police and Palestinians in the Old City of Jerusalem. According to police, a group of masked Palestinians threw stones at the Jewish place of worship at the Western Wall. The police then dispersed the crowd. Dozens of people were injured – some by tear gas and rubber bullets. The recent spate of violence between Israelis and Palestinians continues. Scores of people have been killed or injured on both sides since the beginning of the year. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke of “a new wave of terrorism”. Tensions have been particularly high since the beginning of the Muslim month of fasting, Ramadan, especially since the Jewish Passover and Christian Good Friday coincide this year.
