Jens Lehmann is said to have cheated on parking fees – Munich

Former national soccer goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is always in trouble with the judiciary. The 53-year-old, who lives in Berg am Starnberger See, has already had to answer for traffic offenses and loutish behavior. The public prosecutor’s office is now accusing him of not paying fees totaling around 300 euros twice in the parking garage at Munich Airport. In the second case from September 2022, Lehmann is said to have been filmed by a video camera as he outsmarted the barrier when driving out. The public prosecutor’s office in Munich II accuses Lehmann of the unpaid parking fees as fraud in two cases.

Charges were also brought against Lehmann a few months ago for damage to property that made national headlines last summer: the so-called chainsaw attack. On July 25, 2022, the ex-keeper is said to have sawed apart the roof beams of the neighboring garage with a chainsaw and previously cut the cable of a surveillance camera in order to have a clear view of Lake Starnberg from his property. His own goal: The camera continued filming on battery power and Lehmann was visible in the images. It is said that this was not the first time that the garage, which was still under construction, had been damaged.

The Starnberg district court wants to decide in the fall whether the charges against Lehmann will be admitted and whether there will be a trial – which the public prosecutor’s office assumes will happen. The former football star is also said to have insulted his neighbor, which is why he is also charged. He has apparently been at loggerheads with the architect for years.

We will wait to see how the Starnberg district court decides in the case, said Christoph Rückel, who represents Lehmann as a lawyer in the proceedings, in response to an SZ request on Monday. According to Rückel, his strategy was to prevent a public hearing. The Munich defense attorney did not yet want to comment on the charges against his client for damage to property, fraud and insults.

Jens Lehmann had to answer before the Starnberg district court seven years ago, among other things, for aiding and abetting an accident. At that time he accepted a fine of 42,500 euros.
