“I thought I was too young!”: Jennie Garth was diagnosed with osteoarthritis three years ago – and was shocked.

Former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Jennie Garth (50) has been battling osteoarthritis for three years.

Opposite the “Insider” magazine the actress said that at the age of 47 she started noticing stiffness in her fingers and hands and pain in her knees. However, when the disease was diagnosed, she was still shocked.

“I thought I was too young”

“I thought I was too young for osteoarthritis,” said the 50-year-old. “You don’t think that you’re slowing down or that anything is holding you back from the things you do every day.”

She has now found ways to deal with the disease. Stretching exercises, playing golf and walking her dogs help her. “If you know what you’re dealing with physically, there’s always a solution,” Garth said. “I definitely don’t let anything limit me.”

Today, the ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ star tries to focus on the positives: “It was just another interesting development in my maturation.”

What is osteoarthritis?

In the case of osteoarthritis, the protective layer of cartilage in the joints becomes thinner, which leads to pain and restricted movement. It is the most common form of degenerative diseases. It usually occurs in women around the age of 50 and in men ten years later. The irreversible tissue damage can lead to the need for surgical interventions such as hip, shoulder or knee replacements.
