Jean-Marc Pontvianne ranked third in the triple jump final in Munich on Wednesday, giving France its second medal, the day after Jules Pommery’s bronze at the length.
After biting the first two attempts, Jean-Marc Pontvianne managed 16.94m (-0.5 m/s) on the third attempt, ranking in provisional second position behind the former Cuban turned Portuguese Pedro Pichardo (17.50m, – 1.1 m/s). On the fifth try, Andrea Dallavalle’s 17.04m (17.04m, + 0.4 m/s) relegated Pontvianne to third position. Assured of the bronze medal, Pontvianne clearly exceeded 17m during his last attempt, bites.
