Jean-Claude Blanc, deputy general manager of PSG, will leave the club

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will experience a major change in its organization chart. Its deputy general manager, Jean-Claude Blanc, will leave his post in 2023 after twelve seasons at the club, PSG announced on Monday evening December 26.

“As part of the ongoing transformation of PSG on [les terrains] and outside (…)Jean-Claude Blanc will (…) a warm farewell to the club, to pursue a new professional challenge in 2023”writes the Parisian club in a press release.

“The new deputy general manager of PSG will be announced during the year and will be placed under the responsibility of the president and general manager, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi”adds the club, which specifies that “Jean-Claude Blanc’s contract end date will be confirmed in the new year”.

Jean-Claude Blanc is a pillar of PSG and a key man in the QSI (Qatar Sports Investments) project. Arrived at the club in November 2011, just a few months after the takeover of the Parisian club by the Qatari sovereign fund, he experienced the prosperous period in the history of PSG – twenty-eight trophies, including eight titles of champion of France.

A big blow for OGC Nice

According to the sports daily The TeamJean-Claude Blanc will join the Ineos group, which notably controls OGC Nice, which would be a big blow for the group of British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.

Before joining PSG, Jean-Claude Blanc – a graduate of Harvard, he was also general manager of the French Tennis Federation – had been part of the management team of Juventus Turin (2006-2011) as general administrator then as president for most of the 2009-2010 season, before giving way to Andrea Agnelli.

“Further senior staff arrivals will be announced in the new year as the club continues its transformation”also wrote the PSG, which continues to restructure around the duo Luis Campos-Christophe Galtier, who arrived in the summer of 2022.

Friday, the regional daily The Parisian announced the arrival at the head of PSG communication of the former editor-in-chief of France-Football and head of the Ballon d’Or, Pascal Ferré, with Michelle Gilbert, current communications director of Meta, Facebook’s parent company, for France and Southern Europe, and David Sugden.
