Jazz rock pianist Hiromi in the Prinzregententheater – Munich

The pianist Hiromi (she has always omitted the surname Uehara), who commutes between her home country of Japan and her adopted home of the USA, and who can count greats like Chick Corea and Ahmad Jamal among her mentors, is one of the few world stars of jazz that are no longer particularly numerous. Probably also because it has always gone beyond the jazz framework. She works on the grand piano with Horowitz-worthy classical technique and a Jerry Lee Lewis force that no one would believe her capable of given her delicate stature. Stylistically, she eclecticly incorporates everything possible into her own jazz-rock fusion. In addition to her regular trio, she has often played with orchestras, but most recently also in a duo with the harpist Edmar Castañeda. Of course, she herself is always the biggest attraction, and in Prince Regent Theater she is now also presenting her solo album “Spectrum”, which was released shortly before Corona.
