Two people are found dead after a fire at a house in Jarmen. The property damage is around 250,000 euros. The cause of the fire is unknown, according to police. Was there an explosion in the building?

Two people died in a fire in a residential building in Jarmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Saturday. When police and firefighters arrived, the building was already fully engulfed in flames, police said. The fire became known around 3:20 a.m., and the two dead were discovered around 5:20 a.m.

It was initially unknown whether it was the homeowner, a 60-year-old and his 59-year-old wife. The damage was estimated at at least 250,000 euros. The house was so badly damaged by the fire that parts of the building collapsed.

The search for clues and securing by the permanent criminal service continued. A fire investigator was also on the scene. The cause of the fire was initially unknown. A spokesman for the regional control center did not comment on speculation about the cause. “We don’t rule out anything, investigate in all directions,” he told the German Press Agency.

The “Nordkurier” reported on its website of several explosions that had occurred. Apparently, the pressure of the explosion caused the roof to rise, and parts of it landed on adjacent properties. The NDR reported on its website that an explosion was likely to be the cause, according to the police. According to initial findings, there was a suspicion of serious arson with fatal consequences.
