Jan Ullrich and doping: The end of a lie – Sport

“Yes, I doped”: Jan Ullrich says a sentence that everyone has been waiting for. The new documentary “The Hunted” supposedly tells “the whole story.” But she doesn’t tell anything new. And Ullrich says he knows “a lot more.”

In minute 29 of the new documentary about Jan Ullrich, Erich Keller also has his say. Keller is a Baden innkeeper and a person who has meant very well towards Jan Ullrich throughout his life. He supported Ullrich in training and led the Jan Ullrich fan club when Germany fell in love with the freckled cycling youth. And he continued to honor Jan Ullrich even when Germany turned away from the cycling hero. Keller left Jan Ullrich’s pictures and autograph cards hanging in his restaurant even after he had long since been convicted of being a doper. He once told the SZ how a guest asked him: “When are you going to get rid of the doper?” – His answer: “As long as I live, the pictures will stay there.”
