In the ZDF talk show “Maybrit Illner”, actor Jan Josef Liefers advocates a more considerate discourse and speaks out against the stigmatization of groups that do not want to be vaccinated.
“Vaccinated, tested, annoyed – dare more freedom?” – The ZDF talk show “Maybrit Illner” ran on this topic on Thursday, in which Liefers was also a guest. Above all, the question of when things can return to normal in Germany was discussed. It went unanswered, however.
Jan Josef Liefers calls for “disarming”
With the discussion about the stagnating vaccination rate in Germany, the question inevitably arises as to when it will be high enough to be able to return to “normal everyday life”. Jan Josef Liefers does not seem to consider this to be expedient. The actor would like us to “disarm adjectives and language,” he said on Thursday on “Maybrit Illner” on the talk show. “That we can find our way back to a form of negotiating and accepting and enduring different, contradicting and sometimes absurd opinions with one another,” said the 57-year-old.
In general, he would like to see a return to a better discourse in society on the subject of vaccination and the corona pandemic. With the stigmatization of groups that do not want to be vaccinated, one must accordingly “be very, very careful. Because that too can break quite a lot of porcelain”.
Controversial video campaign #allesdichtmachen
In the past, Liefers had repeatedly commented on the corona pandemic and policy. He also took part in the controversial video campaign #allesdichtmachen. At that time, people from the film and television scene criticized the way the corona virus was dealt with with satirical videos on the Internet. The action subsequently provoked controversial reactions – some accused the group of playing down. In retrospect, several participants distanced themselves from the Internet campaign. Liefers, who claims to have been vaccinated himself, later also visited an intensive care unit in a hospital and helped there. He described the impressions of his work in the media with sometimes drastic words.
No involvement of Liefers in a new campaign
The “Berliner Zeitung” spoke to Liefers in an interview about the newer, also controversial video campaign #allesaufdentisch online. When asked why he did not take part in this video campaign, the actor said: “There will be a conversation with the media scientist Stephan Ruß-Mohl and myself. I am not clear why this campaign is being opposed by some. One can deal with its content or, alternatively, ignore it. “
The campaign, in which actors Volker Bruch and Wotan Wilke Möhring, among others, took part, started at the end of September. In many videos that have been circulating on the Internet since then, the Corona measures and the media reporting about them are criticized, among other things. Critics, in turn, accuse the creators of using conspiracy-ideological narratives. The YouTube platform has already deleted a few clips. In an urgent decision, a court saw the deletion of two videos in particular as unjustified because the platform did not explain in sufficient detail why it was deleted.
