He has probably fulfilled a childhood dream: TV satirist Jan Böhmermann reads an episode of the popular radio play series “Die Drei ???” a. It’s not his favorite episode though.

It was originally a radio play series for young people, but today countless adults listen to the episodes of “Drei ???”. Jan Böhmermann is one of those people who don’t want to part with cherished childhood habits. The TV satirist and presenter of “ZDF Magazin Royale” is a self-confessed fan – and has now realized a small dream: He reads an episode of the crime series set in California.

It is “The Three ??? and the Whispering Mummy”. The episode is anything but new: it was first published in Germany on March 1, 1980 as episode 10 – Böhmermann wasn’t even born then. It was spoken by Oliver Rohrbeck, Andreas Fröhlich and Jens Wawrczeck – who still lend their voice to the cases today.

The radio plays are based on the book series of the same name that started in the USA in 1964. The books have also been published in German since 1968. The first radio play appeared in Germany in 1979.

But while Rohrbeck, Fröhlich and Wawrczek record the abridged radio play adaptations, Böhmermann has now read the original text. The re-voicing is part of the “Family & Friends” series, in which classics from the book series are re-voiced by well-known actors and actresses who are connected to the world of “Three ???” are connected. This is how Böhmermann got the honor.

In “Fest & Flauschig”, his podcast, which he has on Spotify together with Olli Schulz, the entertainer, born in Bremen in 1981, proudly reported on his commitment: “I tried very hard,” said Böhmermann. The recording took three or four days.

You can tell how much fun he is: Anyone who listens to the episode that has now been published can literally feel the joy the satirist has in reading the approximately four-hour long material and in the imitation of voices and animals.

Böhmermann only seems to regret one thing: “It’s not my favorite episode.” It was “The Three ??? and the Ghost Castle”. But that part was already taken. But that didn’t detract from his pride. And Olli Schultz didn’t bother either: “I’ll listen to them tonight when I go to bed,” he said in the podcast.
