2023 is the end for James Corden: The presenter leaves the “Late Late Show”. Of course, the star explained his reasons on his show, but the farewell should be with “a bang”.

The British moderator and comedian James Corden is leaving the well-known “Late Late Show” of the US broadcaster CBS next year. He spoke about his reasons on Thursday’s show. The late-night star explained that he had signed a one-year contract extension and would then move on. The show, which he has hosted for seven and a half years, has “changed” his life, but should never be his last station, according to the 43-year-old.

“This will be my final year hosting the show,” Corden said. “When I started this journey, it was always meant to be just that: a journey, an adventure. I never saw it as my ultimate goal.” He always wants to do the show with love: “And I really think that in a year’s time it will be a good time to move on and see what else there could be.”

James Corden’s show is a cult worldwide

During his tenure as the host of The Late Late Show, Corden launched hit segments like Carpool Karaoke, Drop the Mic, and Crosswalk the Musical. He regularly greets top stars. For his farewell, the TV star promised “a bang”: “We still have a year ahead of us and we are all determined to make this the best year of this show we have ever had. We say goodbye with a bang.”

Leaving the show was the “hardest decision” he’s ever had to make, said the Brit, who lives in California. “I never took this job for granted. Ever,” he said. He described being able to do this show for the audience as an “absolute privilege”.

In March 2015, Corden, also known as an actor, took over from Craig Ferguson as host of the late-night talk show. His “Carpool Karaoke” with singer Adele, which aired in January 2016, went viral. Corden’s other karaoke interludes in the car with world stars such as Paul McCartney, Madonna or Céline Dion quickly became cult.
