Itzehoe – new money for chip factory – economy

The US chip manufacturer Vishay wants to expand its chip production in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein, for around 300 million euros. Construction of the new factory is scheduled to start next year. “The purchase agreement between the city of Itzehoe and Vishay for a three-hectare property has now been signed,” the company announced on Monday. “With this area, the company can cover the space requirements that the new chip factory and additional space requirements require directly on site.” According to the information, 150 new jobs are to be created in a first expansion phase. The company currently employs more than 470 women and men at the Itzehoe site. The US company develops and manufactures semiconductor components for use in automotive, industrial and entertainment electronics.
