In Salerno, Italy, a 15-month-old child was attacked and fatally injured by two pit bulls. The two dogs probably belonged to family friends.

An approximately 15-month-old toddler is two in southern Italy on Monday Pit bulls have been bitten to death. According to an initial reconstruction of the tragic incident, the child was accompanied by his uncle when the attack dogs tore him from the man’s arms, as Italian media reported, citing the Carabinieri. The mother tried to save the toddler from the dogs’ clutches, but was unsuccessful. She was injured in the process.

Pit Bull Attack: Uncle Uninjured

The two dogs are said to belong to family friends. According to media reports, the family was in a square in front of a two-story house that morning. The pit bulls reportedly ran out of the house and immediately attacked the child. The uncle was therefore uninjured, the mother is in the hospital with deep bite wounds.

Just a few months ago, a similar incident occurred in Italy. During a run near Rome, a jogger was attacked and fatally injured by three Rottweilers. The 39-year-old man was bitten to death by dogs in a park. Passers-by later discovered his disfigured body.
