Italy – Nationwide Air Strikes – Travel

In Italy, a nationwide strike by air traffic control and ground staff is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 17. The action is announced for the time window between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. In addition, the employees of so-called low-cost airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair or Malta Air will strike for better working conditions on the same day. If the strikes take place as planned, numerous flight cancellations and delays in air traffic to and from Italy can be expected. The strikes come at a time when airports across Europe are suffering from staff shortages caused by the pandemic, during which many airport workers have been looking for other jobs. Several airports are therefore limiting the number of passengers, most recently this was the case at London Heathrow.
