A violent storm has caused serious damage on the Italian holiday island of Ischia. Rescue workers have now discovered the body of a girl. And ten people are still missing.

Rescue workers on the Italian island of Ischia discovered a child’s corpse after Saturday’s severe storm. The responsible prefecture in Naples confirmed on Sunday that it was a girl between the ages of five and six. This increases the death toll to two. On Saturday, the authorities already recovered the body of a woman. Ten people are still considered missing.

A severe storm hit the largest island in the Gulf of Naples early on Saturday morning and caused serious damage, especially in the northern coastal towns of Casamicciola and Lacco Ameno. Officials said several people were injured. Almost 170 people had to leave their homes, some with the help of the authorities. About 370 firefighters and police officers were on site. The military said it had evacuated three adults and two children by helicopter from a resort on Sunday morning.
