On March 27, around 7:30 a.m., “a dozen individuals, mostly Queneau high school students, presented themselves in front of the high school in order to block it, placing various elements in front of the entrance”, sums up the prosecution. A blockage that occurred in the context of the social movement against pension reform.

Still according to the prosecution, “one of the individuals set fire to a mattress with deodorant and a lighter. Other individuals fueled the fire by throwing containers and other objects towards the flames”. Without participating directly in the fire, other young people were present, filming the scene for some, without notifying the emergency services.

The investigation therefore made it possible to identify twelve teenagers, of whom only one is an adult. Three of them, minors, appeared on Tuesday before the Lille juvenile court, which found them guilty of having fueled the fire. “The court postponed the pronouncement of the sanction to December 5, 2023”, explains to 20 minutes the prosecution, adding that they are the subject of “a provisional judicial educational measure” in the meantime. Three other minors appeared this Wednesday before the same court. The only major of the band, he was placed under judicial supervision pending his appearance before the criminal court, scheduled for August 31.

The last five implicated, who were accused of having attended the fire without notifying the emergency services, “are the subject of an alternative to prosecution”, specifies the prosecution. In other words, a measure of penal reparation.
