It has never been so hot in October at Mont Aigoual

Never, since the beginning of meteorological measurements on this site in 1896, it had been so hot at Mont Aigoual, a month of October, reports Météo-France. Over the period from October 1 to 27, the average temperature reached 10.6°C.

This is the first time that the mercury has exceeded 10°C on average, on this summit, which culminates at 1,565 meters above sea level, on the border between Gard and Lozère.

In addition, “from November 2021 to October 2022, we will reach an average temperature of 8°C, far ahead of all other years”, writes, on Twitter, François Jobard, meteorologist at Météo-France. “It is also the highest average temperature over twelve rolling months”. By way of comparison, the annual average temperature over the whole of the 20th century, at the summit of Mont Aigoual, is 4.6°C.
