Israel’s army: Israel orders complete blockade of Gaza Strip

Israel is sorting out after the devastating major attack by the Islamist Hamas Complete closure of the Gaza Strip at. Defense Minister Joav Galant: “There will be no electricity, no food and no fuel.” We are dealing with barbarians and will act accordingly. The Israeli security cabinet had already decided on Sunday night to fundamentally stop the import of electricity, fuel and goods into the Palestinian territory.

An Israeli military spokesman explains that it was Hamas that destroyed the crossings into Israel in the major attack on Saturday. Border traffic is therefore currently not possible anyway. There will be no hurry with reconstruction either.

According to the UN, more than two million people live in very poor conditions in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip stretches along the Mediterranean Sea for a length of around 40 kilometers and is around six to twelve kilometers wide. The area is slightly larger than that of Munich. Hamas seized sole power by force in 2007. Israel then tightened a blockade of the coastal area, which Egypt supported. It is unclear whether Cairo would allow humanitarian shipments to the Gaza Strip across the Egyptian border.
