Israel should show strength against Iran – but correctly – opinion

A counterstrike that will shake Iran but calm the world? That can’t exist. But there would be an appropriate response to the weekend attack.

If one correctly interprets the smoke signals emerging from the War Cabinet meetings in Tel Aviv, then Israel is planning to square the circle. Not with compasses and rulers, but with bombs and rockets. Iran’s unprecedented attack on the Jewish state should be met with a powerful military response. But the answer should not trigger a major regional war. The message is that Iran must tremble, but the world can be reassured. Sounds good, but it can hardly work.
