Israel’s prime minister has been hospitalized several times in the past due to health problems. Now Benjamin Netanyahu had to undergo another operation.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is allowed to leave the hospital after an operation under general anesthesia. “I am now being released from Hadassah-Ein Kerem Hospital, which has become my office over the past day,” Netanyahu said in a video message on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for the clinic confirmed the dismissal of the Israeli head of government.

According to his office, the 74-year-old underwent surgery on Sunday for a hernia that was discovered during a routine examination on Saturday. Netanyahu’s office did not specify which hernia the prime minister was diagnosed with. The most common hernia is the so-called inguinal hernia. In the case of a hernia, for example, parts of the intestine, parts of organs or fatty tissue protrude through a gap in the abdominal wall.

Netanyahu has often been hospitalized for health problems in the past. He had a pacemaker inserted last summer.
