Ismaning: Municipality sets priorities – district of Munich

The municipality of Ismaning is one of the Bavarian municipalities that is very diligently pursuing the goal of being a “digital town hall” and making many of its services available online. The citizens’ meeting on Epiphany also showed how much the people of Ismaning value direct contact: After two years of corona-related meetings in the alternative quarters in the gym, the citizens’ hall was very well filled. Almost 40 inquiries from interested citizens were received, which Mayor Alexander Greulich (SPD) tried to answer as best as possible.

In his review and outlook, Greulich emphasized on the one hand that the municipality of Ismaning has come off more lightly than feared from the past few months, which have been shaped by Corona and the effects of the Russian war on Ukraine. Thanks to the great commitment of volunteers and the community, refugees from Ukraine could be taken in and cared for. The municipality is also financially solid. At the same time, however, Greulich emphasized that there was little scope to tackle new tasks. Last year, the municipal council had to scale back some of the municipality’s ambitious projects. In 2023, the community will again “set priorities,” said Greulich.

This does not mean that there will be a standstill in Ismaning, as a look around the town, where many construction cranes are turning, shows that. However, ongoing projects such as the new technical town hall, which has been under construction since autumn 2022 next to the community hall and indoor pool, have priority. The construction site for the modern three-storey additional administration building made of wood and concrete is making good progress, and the house should be ready in summer 2024. In addition, the conversion and expansion of the Kallmann Museum in the historic castle park are planned for 2023; In order to be able to expand the Ismaninger Gymnasium, the east wing of the former Commundo Hotel, which is still standing, is to be demolished this year. Progress should also be made on the question of the third primary school, and the community is aiming for an architectural competition in 2023. In terms of traffic, cost planning for the renovation of the through-road through Münchner Strasse is on the agenda.

The municipality does not want to forget about climate protection. In the Kernbachpark, the municipality is carefully laying out natural areas as well as recreation and play areas; In 2023, two bridges are to be added over the eponymous park, as well as a pump track. In 2022, the street lighting in Ismaning was switched to LED lights. Private individuals can get a subsidy for roof photovoltaic systems, among other things, through the municipal energy saving promotion program.

District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) prepared those present for the fact that further efforts will be necessary this year to take in refugees. “We’ve never had as many refugees in the Munich district as we have now,” said Göbel.
