Ismaning – Gymnasium is expanded – District of Munich

The Ismaninger Gymnasium is expanded only a few years after its opening. On Monday, the District Committee for Building and Schools of the District Council approved the implementation of the nine-year high school and the conversion from four to five trains and the associated structural expansion and released the financial resources for this. The Ismaninger municipal council had already passed a corresponding resolution in December last year, the district of Munich and the municipality of Ismaning are jointly responsible for the school, which started in 2015 with predecessor classes, by means of a special purpose agreement.

The grammar school is housed in a former conference hotel on Seidl-Kreuz-Weg, which has been owned by the community since the early 1990s; in the years 2015 to 2017 the central and western wing of the building complex was rebuilt and released for use as a school. The eastern part of the building is now being demolished, where a new multi-purpose room and a music room are to be built, as well as office and seminar rooms, and the canteen may also be located there. The extensions are due to the higher number of students due to the reintroduction of the G 9, and the Isgy, as it is called in the school family, is very popular: significantly more students than initially expected, especially from the municipality of Ismaning itself, are pressing the high school. The total cost of the expansion is estimated at around eleven million euros, not including the demolition. The municipality has to finance this itself.
