Ismaning – Eight municipalities north of Munich are planning a new cycling concept – Munich district

The municipalities of Ismaning, Garching, Unterschleißheim, Unterföhring, Oberschleißheim, Hallbergmoos, Eching and Neufahrn, which have joined together to form the “Northern Alliance”, are planning a new cycling concept to improve the infrastructure for cyclists between the eight cities and municipalities. The inter-municipal alliance can count on more than three quarters of a million euros in funding from the Federal Ministry for the Environment. The money comes from the funding program “Climate Protection through Cycling”. Among other things, the municipalities plan to improve the signage for cycle paths, set up repair stations and install a comprehensive rental system for e-bikes and pedelecs with exchangeable batteries within the Northern Alliance region. According to a survey, local companies are also showing great interest in such an e-bike rental for their employees.

The eight municipalities are expecting the final funding decision in autumn of this year. Then you should start putting your plans into action.
