Islamophobic and racist leaflets distributed in mailboxes

Islamophobic and racist leaflets have been distributed in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) for several weeks, the migrant aid collective Etorkinekin Diakité denounced in a press release on Wednesday.

The leaflets, entitled “Warning to Muslims and other Islamists living or currently in the Basque Country”, are signed by the hand of a mysterious small group which calls itself “The Franco-Basque Catholic Resistance”.

The authors of the leaflets, a double-sided page long, also call for a boycott of a Bayonne bakery which employs a veiled woman.

The Etorkinekin Diakité collective obtained the support of several local political parties, unions and associations, who co-signed the press release released on Wednesday.
