Is leaving your smartphone at the school entrance a realistic idea?

Nicole Belloubet has an idea to prevent college students from dropping out: not having their smartphones with them. In interview on France InterSunday, the Minister of National Education said she was considering the implementation of a “complete digital break during middle school”, starting in 6th grade.

To implement the measure, establishments should probably require teenagers to leave their cell phones at the entrance and pick them up when they leave the school. Daily detox would help fight against the perverse effects of social networks on young people.

What do you think ? Parents, are you in favor of your child not having his cell phone with him during his day at school? On the contrary, do you regret not being able to contact him during breaks? Teachers, does this measure seem applicable to you? College students currently responding to our call for testimonials on your smartphone, what do you say?
