Iris Berben accuses Aiwanger of being shabby – Bavaria

In the affair surrounding an anti-Semitic leaflet from her school days, actress Iris Berben has accused the Bavarian Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger of shabby behavior. But she also misses attitude from Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU). The leaflet was “such an indecent, mean and disgusting piece of paper,” said 73-year-old Berben at the Ständehaus Treff der Rhenish Post In Dusseldorf.

Bavaria’s Free Voters leader Aiwanger apologized after much hesitation, but at the same time said that he was not the author. “Then what is he apologizing for?” But it depends on how the adult Aiwanger deals with it today, says Berben. Half an hour after receiving “absolution” from Söder, Aiwanger appeared in a tent and was celebrated as a supposed victim of the media. “This is shabby,” said the award-winning actress, who has been campaigning against anti-Semitism for years.

At the same time, she accused Söder of “power calculation,” even though he was in a “predicament.” In their opinion, the head of government could only have lost in the leaflet affair, no matter what he decided. “But I think maybe you need to think about which way you choose to lose.”

Aiwanger had denied having written an anti-Semitic leaflet when he was at school, about which the Southgerman newspaper had reported. Aiwanger’s brother says he was the author. As a result, further allegations were made about Aiwanger’s previous behavior. After several days he apologized, but at the same time complained about a campaign against him. However, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Söder is sticking with his deputy and economics minister: a dismissal would be “not proportionate”.
