Before Iran and Russia met on the diplomatic stage on Wednesday, the two states met on the lawn. Last Thursday, the Russian national soccer team visited Tehran. The game itself was a gesture of friendship, as the Russian FA remains banned from all international and European competitions as a result of the war of aggression against Ukraine. And then the game ended in a politically digestible draw: one to one.
