Joe Biden calls meeting with top US diplomatic and military officials
President Joe Biden is due to meet with top US diplomatic and military officials, gathered in the Situation Room at the White House. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and CIA Director Bill Burns are among the participants.
In a statement, Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the National Security Council, said the administration was in “constant communication” with Israeli officials and US allies.
“This attack is likely to develop over the course of several hours, states the press release. President Biden has been clear: our support for Israel’s security is ironclad. The United States will stand with the Israeli people and support their defense against these threats from Iran,” said the press release.
