“Iran is murdering its youth before our eyes,” centrist Nathalie Goulet launched in the Senate on Thursday, asking for the organization in the Senate of a new debate “as soon as possible” on the situation in Iran. Nathalie Goulet intervened, just before the start of the examination of the draft budget for 2023, during a “point of order”, to alert on a new day of deadly violence in Iran.
“We feel your emotion,” said Senate President Gérard Larcher (LR). “Personally, I am following the situation in Iran with great attention,” he said, recalling that the Senate had already held a debate on the situation in Iran on October 5.
Nathalie Goulet has launched a few days ago in the Senate a vast operation of support for Iranians. In posts on his Twitter account, parade clichés of senators of all persuasions, carrying a small sign in the colors of Iran with the slogan “Women, life, freedom”. In the background, the song Baraye by Shervin Hajipour, an unofficial anthem of the protest movement.
We can see group presidents, like Hervé Marseille (centrist), Claude Malhuret (Independents), Eliane Assassi (CRCE with a communist majority), committee presidents, like Sophie Primas (LR) or Laurent Lafon (centrist), or again Minister Caroline Cayeux.
