iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac: Be the first to know about important Apple updates
Updates for iPhones, iPads and Macs aren’t always just full of new features – sometimes they’re really important!

The last update to iOS 15.3.1 showed that sometimes the situation is serious. When Apple closes an important security hole, you should be quick. the star reveals how you won’t miss an update again.
Apple says it best itself: “Keeping software up to date is one of the most important things you can do to ensure the security of your Apple product.” And that was just a few days ago. With the release of the initially inconspicuous update to iOS 15.3.1 (read here why you should install the update immediately), Apple closed an open security gap that had already got around in hacker circles. Have you heard about it? Very well! But how about if you were one of the first to know about this update?
You don’t always want to leave it to chance whether you find out about important updates for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Macbook in good time. While Apple will nudge you sooner or later that an update is available, it can sometimes take a while. If that is enough for you, activate it in the settings on your mobile device General and software update in the menu Automatic updates the hook for Download iOS updates and – if desired – iOS updates to install.
Very similar under MacOS: Go to the top left via the apple symbol system settingsthen up software update. Here you can specify whether the calculator should be updated automatically. Under More options you can also determine whether updates should be searched for, loaded and/or installed automatically. You will also find options here for downloading new versions of apps from the App Store and installing security updates as quickly as possible.
As I said, these measures are usually not enough to really find out about an update immediately. It’s faster if you watch two of the manufacturer’s websites. the Apple support documentation is a good starting point, because all available updates are always listed here, usually shortly after they are released. It is also worth taking a look at the Version overview for developerswhich can also be viewed without membership.
The latter site even offers a so-called RSS feed, which you can subscribe to with the appropriate reading programs. These can be found, for example, in the App Store for both iOS and MacOS. Popular examples are “Feedly”, “An Otter RSS Reader” or “Reeder 5”. A glance shows: The last update was reported there on February 10 at 6 p.m. – and therefore exactly at the time of availability.
