iPhone 15 Pro Max: Analyst says where there should have been a problem in development

Apple’s flagship model this year, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is said to have had a difficult birth, according to various analysts. Now supply chain expert Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken up again and claims to know exactly where the problem was.

Kuo reported the day before with the message that the largest model should not be postponed until October, contrary to statements by other analysts. Mass production has started, as has shipping, Kuo said. But now he addsthat it could still be tight when it comes to delivery, since the Pro Max was probably the last to go into production and accordingly does not have as much of a lead time as the other three models.

According to the analyst at the financial company TF International Securities in Taiwan, it got stuck with several components. In addition to the periscope camera, the display panel, the batteries and the titanium frame are said to have given Apple some headaches.

The problems with the image sensor have been solved by increasing production at the supplier, although slight problems remain. With the display, Apple simply screwed up how many panels come from which supplier. A solution was also found with the upstream suppliers for the battery and titanium frame.

On the other hand, the problem with a hardware button was homemade. It wasn’t until the second quarter that Apple decided against a solid-state button that only simulates keystrokes. This caused difficulties that delayed the start of mass production. However, it is gratifying that the titanium frame reduces the weight of the Pro models.

Kuo also confirms the likely available colors for this year’s iPhone generation. The Pro models should be available in grey, white, black and blue. Buyers of an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus should be able to purchase the device in black, pink, yellow, blue and green. Apple has invited to an event on September 12, where the iPhones will probably be presented.
