Investigations into piles of dung on streets – Bavaria

The Lower Franconia police are investigating people who dumped piles of hay and dung onto streets early on Thursday morning, thereby blocking traffic routes. The actions could presumably be attributed to some farmers, the police said on Thursday. The Würzburg criminal police say they are investigating suspected dangerous interference with road traffic and possible environmental crimes.

According to the police, farmers across the country had called for protests against offices and authorities. In particular, manure and liquid manure should be dumped. In Lower Franconia, among other things, the entrances and exits of roundabouts on the B 13 were blocked, so that it was no longer possible to get through. The access roads to the B 19 were also impaired in several places by dumped dung heaps and bales of straw. Unknown people set fire to a truck tire on the B 303. Fire departments and road maintenance departments cleared the roads again.

The police warn urgently against actions that endanger traffic. “I say clearly and clearly: Anyone who creates obstacles on roads where high speeds are sometimes permitted and thereby endangers others is clearly going too far! We can count ourselves lucky that no one was injured,” said the Lower Franconian police chief Detlev Tolle according to the announcement.
