Investigation opened after two false bomb threats

The Pharos reporting platform, attached to the judicial police, “reported two false bomb threats that led to evacuations of the Eiffel Tower on Saturday”, said the Paris prosecutor’s office on Monday, which opened an investigation.

According to the prosecution, it is “quite usual to open an investigation after false bomb threats, which unfortunately occur frequently” and can target emblematic monuments such as the Iron Lady.

Punishable by two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros

The investigations were entrusted to the police station of the 7th district of the capital, for threats of crimes against people and for the disclosure of false information “with the aim of making believe that a dangerous destruction for people is going to be or has been committed”, clarified the prosecution, confirming information from the Parisian.

These false alerts were made on the jeuxvideo.com forum, and on the moncommissariat.fr interface, which allows Internet users to contact the police.

These offenses are punishable by two years’ imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 euros.
