The Isle of Beauty is aptly named after the violent assault of a young homosexual couple in a village on the northern tip of Corsica. This assault, recounted in Stubborn, occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the night of July 14 to 15 while the two young people were dancing, accompanied by the family of one of them. About twenty local young people attacked this couple on openly homophobic motives, they specify on the magazine’s website.

The Bastia prosecutor’s office told France Info open an investigation after some of the attackers appeared to be bragging about their actions on social media.
