Invasion of the Amber Cockroach: Don’t Panic – Panorama

In “Mimic – Attack of the Killer Insects” mutated giant cockroaches infiltrate New York. They can walk on two legs, and when they wear hats and coats, they can hardly be distinguished from grumpy older gentlemen in the twilight. Guillermo del Toro’s 1997 horror film can lead sensitive viewers to skip acts like indiscriminate bug spraying and uncoordinated fly swatter waving. “Mimic” plays in a shabby way with the widespread hatred of cockroaches (not to be confused with hatred of Swabia) and exaggerates a real development into the grotesque. In fact, an invasion of cockroaches can be observed in this hot summer.
