Interview with soprano Asmik Grigorian: “I’m crazy enough myself” – Culture

Asmik Grigorian, born in Vilnius in 1981, grew up with music. Her father was the Armenian tenor Gegham Grigorjan, her mother is the Lithuanian soprano and professor Irena Milkevičiūtė. Ever since Grigorian played the title role in Richard Strauss’ “Salome” at the Salzburg Festival in 2018 (directed by Romeo Castellucci), she has been the superstar of the opera scene and has been showered with awards. Her repertoire is extremely broad, and above all she has a unique emotional truth and expressiveness on stage. Vocally, she can do anything anyway. She just doesn’t value publicity and her interviews are rare. Now she’s coming to one, at the Bavarian State Opera – the premiere of Tchaikovsky’s “Queen of Spades” is taking place there on Sunday. Grigorian sings Lisa.
