With Frankfurt in the Champions League: Sports Director Markus Krösche explains the rapid development of Eintracht, why players like Mario Götze are “fire and flame” for the club – and why a Superliga contains mistakes in reasoning.

Markus Krösche, 41, was once considered a talented footballer: in 1999 he became German youth champion with Werder Bremen – as captain. If you ask him why he didn’t make it all the way to the top as a professional, he says he succeeded according to his talent: primarily in the third and second leagues with SC Paderborn. It was not until the end of his active career that he was promoted to the Bundesliga with Paderborn (2014). He later became manager there and he did so well that he moved on to RB Leipzig as sporting director for two years (until summer 2021).
