Interview with jazz saxophonist Marius Neset: “Stop thinking” – Culture

When the Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset performed in Munich in autumn 2022, there was someone in the Unterfahrt jazz club who catapulted his instrument to a new level. His long-time companion Anton Eger sat congenially on the drums, with whom he played in such crazy meters as the 27/8 time or in the fragmented rhythms of the broken beats. In Scandinavia and England, Neset is a superstar, playing with major orchestras and performing in concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. In January he will be on tour in Europe with his band for a concert at the Prinzregententheater. He has also released two furious albums with an orchestra on the Munich jazz label Act 2023.
