The Federal Cyber Agency, founded in 2020, wants to actively strengthen security in cyberspace. Research contracts worth 30 million euros are now being awarded for this purpose.

The cyber agency in Halle is launching its largest tendering process to date. The federal authority announced on Friday that research contracts on the subject of cyber security with a total volume of 30 million euros would be awarded.

In particular, authorities and critical infrastructures should be in the focus of the projects. Because their failure or impairment would result in significant supply bottlenecks or threats to public safety.

According to the agency, the commissioned projects are intended to research and develop new capabilities in operational cyber security in order to prepare authorities in the field of internal and external security for future threats in the digital space. According to the cyber agency, this increases the resilience of authorities and critical infrastructures.

The agency in Halle started work at the end of 2020. The aim of the federal institution is, among other things, to initiate and finance targeted research projects that strengthen Germany’s security in cyberspace and make it more sovereign, explained a spokeswoman.
