The head of Greenpeace International, Jennifer Morgan, is to support the German government’s international climate policy in the future. To this end, she is to first become a special representative and later become a state secretary.

Accordingly, Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock wants to officially announce the change on Wednesday. On the same day, the federal cabinet is to vote on the election of the special representative.
Morgan will later become Secretary of State in the Foreign Office. To do this, the 55-year-old American must first acquire German citizenship. According to media reports, a corresponding application has already been processed.
Head of Greenpeace since 2016
Morgan studied German, Political Science and later International Relations. Before heading up Greenpeace International, she also worked for the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) and the World Resources Institute. In 2016 he switched to Greenpeace.
In the future, Morgan will primarily prepare the annual world climate conference, as reported by the Reuters news agency. Under the traffic light government, international climate policy switched from the Ministry of the Environment to the Federal Foreign Office.
