The fact that the actions of the Hamas terrorists were applauded in Berlin and elsewhere is causing outrage. Neukölln’s integration officer, Balci, speaks of a “sad fact” – and welcomes the planned ban on the “Samidoun” group.

The integration officer for Berlin-Neukölln, Güner Balci, complained that the actions of the militant Islamist Hamas were approved by too many people in her district: “This is very open in the conversations. When you are in certain milieus, there are “Unfortunately, there is also a lot of support for the actions of Hamas. This is a sad fact that we unfortunately encounter regularly in our work,” she said in the daily topics.

Her experience in Neukölln shows that “anti-Semitism is too widespread. You can also see that in the reporting when the young people are interviewed on Sonnenallee and make no secret of the fact that they find it justified that Hamas slaughtered people has”. She also notices this in conversations in social circles.

At the same time, she emphasized that many migrant organizations clearly reject this – “and they also say that it is far too widespread in the communities.”

Balci welcomes planned “Samidoun” ban

Regarding the planned ban on the Palestinian network “Samidoun,” Balci said that a ban would be a way to specifically deal with the situation on the streets. “You’re sending a clear message to the many young people who may not yet have made a clear decision as to whether they should think this organization is good or bad.” But this does not prevent extremist movements, added the integration officer.

When asked to deport people from this environment from Germany, she said: “This is an attitude that you find not only in politics, but also on the streets.” She also met migrants who demanded exactly this. But: “That alone won’t help us,” said Balci. For example, many of the young people have German citizenship.
