Insa survey: Majority for new federal elections and change of course on migration

EAccording to a survey, a majority of German citizens would like an early election for the Bundestag. In the survey conducted by the Insa Institute for the “Bild” newspaper (Tuesday), 57 percent of those surveyed were in favor of a new election. 31 percent are of the opinion that the traffic light coalition should continue to govern until the scheduled end of the legislative period in 2025.

There is particularly great dissatisfaction with current migration policy. The 1,004 respondents were given five topic areas in which they were asked to say whether the federal government should continue as before or take a new course. 59 percent called for a change of course in migration policy (continue: 18.5 percent). This is followed by a change of course in housing policy, which 52 percent supported (continue: 20 percent).

There is also great dissatisfaction with Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD). 58 percent said they would resign. Only 19 percent want to keep her in office. Faeser achieved a historically poor election result as the SPD’s top candidate in the state elections in Hesse on Sunday.
