Innsbrucker gets lost: 170 kilometers past the target – Bavaria

A strange incident happened on Monday afternoon in Inning am Ammersee: An attentive taxi driver had informed the police about an obviously confused elderly man who had given him the impression of being disoriented. The senior had asked the taxi driver in the parking lot of a supermarket to drive him to Innsbruck, 170 kilometers away. The 87-year-old Austrian said he got lost on his way to a nearby garage. On the further journey he then apparently got onto the autobahn – and finally ended up in Inning via the A 95 and A 96.

The elderly gentleman had nothing to drink with him, no navigation device and no documents. The police officers were able to determine his personal details after further investigations. After the officials had contacted the daughter, who was already concerned, the man from Innsbruck was able to start his journey home alone around 3 p.m. after a little refreshment. For better orientation, the police equipped the man with a printed route description. According to the police report, the “unintentional globetrotter” arrived safely back in Innsbruck around 6 p.m.
