Injury to Erling Haaland after being substituted in the win in Hoffenheim still unclear

The severity of the injury to star striker Erling Haaland from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund is still unclear.

“I can’t say anything yet. You have to wait for the investigation,” said BVB coach Marco Rose after the 3:2 (1:1) on Saturday in the league game at TSG Hoffenheim.

Haaland had to leave the field in the 63rd minute of Dortmund’s happy victory after grabbing the groin after a lunge.

The Norwegian had previously scored his 16th goal of the season (6th). However, Dortmund also had to cope with a moment of shock in the first half: After a duel, Haaland was down and had to be treated on the knee on the pitch. After that he continued to play, but seemed noticeably inhibited.

It’s not the Norwegian’s first injury this season: he missed two league games in September due to muscular problems, and then he was out for about a month with a hip flexor problem.

Lucky in misfortune: The next competitive game for BVB is not until February 6th, the league will be paused next weekend. “The break is not inconvenient for us,” said Rose. “A few guys can be treated. We have training time ahead of us. The topic will be defensive work, work in tackle behavior.”
