From this Friday, November 25 and until December 2, it is possible to bring undeclared weapons to the police station either to hand them over to the State or to register them. Here is what you need to know about the process: who is concerned, what terms, and in which places to take the steps.
This is the classic scenario: the old shotgun of the grandfather, remained in the family, but no longer used. Undeclared, the possession of this weapon puts you in the illegality.
Many people are affected in France. According to the Interior Ministry, quoted by France 3these are five to six million weapons, belonging to individuals, which would thus be held without authorization.
From this Friday, November 25 and until December 2, the Ministry of the Interior is launching a major campaign to collect or declare unregistered weapons. “Individuals, holders undeclared weapons found or acquired by inheritance, will be able to go to specially open sites throughout the territory to either get rid of it to the state, either save them in the weapons information system (SIA)”, specifies the ministry’s website.
