Inflation – Many Germans drink less beer – Economy

Almost every fifth German drinks less beer because of the increased prices. This was the result of a survey by the opinion research institute YouGov. 17 percent of respondents indicated that they consume less beer. Only three percent of respondents said they drink more beer. For 61 percent, beer consumption is unchanged, 19 percent made no statement. According to the survey, men (22 percent) said more often than women (13 percent) that the higher prices made them drink less beer. In recent months, several large beer manufacturers in Germany have increased their prices or at least announced that they will. These included the Radeberger Group, Krombacher, Veltins and the Bitburger brewing group. According to the German Brewers’ Association, the reason for the more expensive beer is the high cost pressure on the breweries.
