It is an anti-crisis plan of 9 billion euros in aid announced this Saturday by the Spanish government of Pedro Sanchez.
It is a massive aid plan to fight against the rise in prices that Spain announced this Saturday. Some regions, such as Catalonia, indicated this Sunday that they were going to complete certain aid. In total, this aid will cost the Spanish State 9 billion euros, which thus hopes to maintain inflation around 3.5 points which was 8.7% in May…
Here are the main aids announced by the Socialist Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez.
Public transport
From September 1, subscriptions to public transport managed by the State will cost 50% less. The other subscriptions which depend on the local authorities will benefit from an aid of 30% of the price. Catalonia announced that it was going to complete this aid to arrive, on regional transport, at a reduction of 50% identical to that of national transport.
Electricity and fuel
The Spanish government has announced the extension of the reduction of 20 cents on the price of a liter of fuel but also a reduction in VAT on electricity prices. Thus, the VAT will drop from 10% to 5%. This is the second reduction in VAT on electricity in Spain in a year since it was previously 21%.
In addition, Spain will set a maximum price for butane cylinders.
A check for 200 euros
Pedro Sanchez also announced direct aid in the form of a check of 200 euros for low-income workers, the self-employed and the unemployed.
Spain thus joins countries such as Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom which have already applied similar aid.
Other measures
Several other aids were announced by the government this Saturday with the postponement of the payment of social security contributions for companies affected by the war, in the fishing and livestock sectors. The VAT reduced to 4% is maintained for surgical masks.
These aids must now be validated by the Spanish Congress in the coming days.
