Inflation: A feeling for prices is deceptive – economy

Of

There is a cross with the prices. The answer, whether they go up or down, depends entirely on who you ask. Because, as strange as it may sound at first, inflation is a deeply individual experience. The Austrian-American economist Ludwig von Mises once said that every housewife knows more about the purchasing power of money than official statistics could ever tell. Even after the currency conversion from the D-Mark to the Euro in 2002, many Germans complained that prices had almost doubled overnight. But the measurements did not show this inflation. It is the same today.
