Indonesia Grand Prix, MotoGP – Fabio Quartararo takes pole position, Johann Zarco 3rd, Marquez falls

The frustration of the first Grand Prix of the season is evacuated, and Fabio Quartararo resumes 2022 on the same bases as his 2021 season in Moto GP! The reigning world champion signed his first pole position of the season in Indonesia on Saturday. Happiness never comes alone, there will be two Frenchmen on the front row on Sunday at the start of the Grand-Prix, since Johann Zarco took third place in qualifying.

Already at ease during the free practice sessions, the Niçois and his Yamaha were once again imperial in these dry track conditions on the Mandalika circuit. With a time of 1″31.067, the Frenchman beat Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) and set the track record at the same time.

Zarco with experience, Ducati with difficulty, Marquez backwards

Johann Zarco, for his part, took advantage of his somewhat remote position to set the third fastest time at the finish, and start on the front row tomorrow, which is very important on the Indonesian circuit. Among the other favourites, the two Ducati riders appeared in difficulty. Francesco Bagnaia will start 6th, while Jack Miller could not do better than 9th position.

The six-time MotoGP champion, Marc Marquez, fell twice in quick succession in the first part of qualifying (Q1). He will only start 15th for the Grand Prix. If the rain could a priori appear tomorrow and redistribute the cards, on the dry Fabio Quartararo appears (already) unplayable on this route.
